The athletic year got its unofficial start thanks to the all-sport pep rally known as “Meet the Trojans.”

Meet the Trojans is a back-to-school tradition that has been around New Hope High School for years. This event brings recognition to many of the hardworking Trojan athletes and rallies Trojan spirit for the start of the school year.

The event brings together  students, parents, and community members who have the opportunity to become familiar with some of the extracurricular that New Hope High School offers, and the students which are involved in them.

This year, Meet the Trojans was organized by one of the newest additions in staff to New Hope High School, Rachel Robertson. Robertson, along with Principal Matt Smith and several other teachers and coaches, were successful in filling the New Hope High School gym with students and parents in celebration and recognition of our young athletes.

Robertson spoke to the vision of a united school community that drives the program. “The utmost goal was to continue the long-standing tradition of incorporating teams into a night of unified Trojan pride. In keeping with that goal, the night was a success.”

To Robertson, the hardest part of coordinating this event was allowing herself to accept the fact that she cannot please everyone, and she contributes the success to the help of her associates, especially Mrs. Keeton Neal.

The organizers believe that like every great success there is room for improvement, and Meet the Trojans is no different. If possible, some things Robertson would like to change about Meet the Trojans would include expansion. Her vision includes breaking the event into separate smaller events, to allow for individual member recognition as well as team recognition. Meet the Trojans would be divided into separate events by fall, winter, and spring athletics, and this expansion would allow room to also showcase the amazing clubs that New Hope High School is home to.

Next year, the hope is that Meet the Trojans will take place on the Trojan football field to be able to hold the even bigger outcome expected from the growth of this pride inspiring event.
